Importance of Social Networking in Brand Management

This past weekend, I was having a lot of problems with my home internet with Comcast. After sending a frustrated Twitter message, I got a response back from a representative from Comcast within 30 seconds asking if they could help in anyway. I was extremely impressed by this.

This made me think about the importance of social networking in brand management. If Comcast were to completely ignore social networking sites such as Twitter, they would be missing out on a large amount of insight as well as letting a ton of angry customers talk poorly about their brand. I did a Twitter search and their brand was mentioned over 40 times in less than an hour.

Paying attention to both the blogosphere and social networks are very important for companies of all sizes. It helps you interact with current customers as well as new potential customers.
