Virtualization Benefits and Going "Green"

These days, more and more companies want to go "green", Infinistorm embraces green technology and hopes to help other companies realize some of the benefits of server virtualization.

If you aren't aware of what virtualization is, here is a brief overview of the benefits.

Virtualization is the act of taking one (or many physical servers) and converting them into "virtual" servers. The old-hat school of thought that involved having "one business application per server" is resolved with server virtualization.  A company is able to run many virtual servers on a single physical server.  The benefits of this process are savings realized through a reduction in power and cooling, licensing, and support needs.

Running many virtual machines per single server will also allow a company's infrastructure to expand to a much greater capacity using a much smaller physical footprint.

The top 5 reasons to move towards a virtualization strategy are:

1)  Get more out of your existing resources -- pool your infrastructure resources and break the old-hat methodology of "one application per server".

2)  Reduce infrastructure costs by reducing the number of physical servers your company has to support.  Fewer servers means lesser power requirements.

3)  Increase the availability of your hardware for business data redundancy.  Securely backup your entire infrastructure more rapidly and easily since virtualized servers consist of a few files that can easily be backed up.

4)  Operational improvements abound -- deploy new servers faster, prep and provision user desktops in a fraction of the time that it used to take!

5)  It's good for the environment!  Virtualization saves time, money, energy, and reduces your company's carbon footprint.

Infinistorm is a leader in virtualization technology, we have assisted companies with their virtualization rollouts in a manner that works for them.  We are able to guide and oversee virtualization strategies of all sizes.
